NRCFA Referee Courses: September & October 2018

I am delighted to confirm that we have arranged 4 FA Referee Courses to take place from September 2018 as follows:
 
CO3/18 – Richmond School, Richmond DL10 7BQ
Commences on Monday, 03 September 2018 – 6pm – 9.30pm
 
CO4/18 – Acklam Green Centre, Middlesbrough TS5 4JS 
Commences on Monday, 17 September 2018 – 6pm – 9.30pm
 
CO5/18 – Poppleton Football Club, York YO26 6LY
Commences on Monday, 01 October 2018 – 6pm – 9.30pm
 
CO6/18 – Scarborough Sixth Form College, Scarborough YO12 5LF
Commences on Monday, 15 October 2018 – 6pm – 9.30pm
 
We have 24 places available on each course (96 places in total) and have received a very high demand of interest in our FA Referee Courses.  Please note that the courses will be on a first come, first served basis and we strongly advise making a booking sooner rather than later as we have released the courses on our social media platforms also.
 
The cost of our FA Referee Courses are £130.00 per candidate with a minimum age of 14 required in order to book a place.   The course format for all 4 courses is as follows:
 
Ø  Classroom Introduction Workshop (Unit 1): 6pm – 9.30pm
 
Ø  Safeguarding Children Workshop (For those Candidates 16 Years of age +)  For those Candidates 14 & 15 Years of age, an online learning platform will be issued & FA CRC Verification Workshop: 6pm – 9.30pm
 
Ø  E -Learning will be assigned at the Unit 1 Workshop for Candidates to complete remotely ahead of the Practical Workshop (Units 2-4):  3 Weeks to complete
 
Ø  Full Referee Development Practical Day (Units 2-4): 9am – 5pm
 
Ø  Officiate 5 Games @ 11v11 or 9v9 within local Grassroots Football (Unit 5):  8 Weeks to complete  (Scarborough Course have 15 weeks due to winter months)
 
Ø  Final Assessment / Theory Examination (Unit 6):  6pm – 9.30pm

NRCFA Practical Assistant Referee Workshops

NRCFA Practical Assistant Referee Workshops – August 2016

North Riding FA have planned two Practical Assistant Referee Workshops to take place as follows:

Wednesday, 10 August 2016 @ North Riding County FA HQ, Stokesley, TS9 5NY 6pm – 9pm.

Thursday, 18 August 2016 @ Poppleton Football Club, York, YO26 6LY – 6pm – 9pm.

The workshops are aimed at those who want to gain some experience of becoming an Assistant Referee and also any Match Official Levels 8, 7, 6 or 5 who would like some additional training as an Assistant Referee and improve their technique.

The workshops will involve both Classroom and Practical training with the following subjects covered:

Ø  The Role of an Assistant Referee – Classroom

Ø  Pre Match Instructions – Classroom

Ø  Laws of the Game Updates – Classroom

Ø  Basics of Assistant Refereeing – Practical Session

Ø  Offside – Practical Session

Ø  Supporting the Referee – Practical Session

Registration will be from 6.00pm and the workshops will commence promptly at 6.15pm and conclude for around 9.00pm.

We have limited places on each workshop so we would advise booking your place ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Please note that the dress code for the workshops is sportswear, i.e. a tracksuit, but you should bring a change of training kit for the outdoor sessions.

The outdoor sessions will take place on grass, and therefore you should bring football boots as per a normal match day.

Please ensure that you bring your own flags and a whistle. (We will have a limited supply for those who do not have an AR flag)

Given that the weather is likely to be warm, please ensure that you bring a water bottle, or some form of drink, in order to stay hydrated and alert throughout the evening.

A full confirmation and final agenda will be sent to all delegates a few days prior to the workshops.

First Aid Course – 18 November

The Saturday league are running a basic FA first aid course at Wigginton Village Hall on Wednesday 18th November. There are a few places left if any referees want to come. Fee £10 per person, subsidised by the League.

How to Referee

New Referees Course and Taster Session

Refs Course New Format – Taster Sessions

On 17 September 2015 there is a Taster evening at York College (1900-2100 hrs) for prospective new referees. If you are interested in refereeing then you must attend this taster session before embarking on the full referees course (if that is what you wish to do following the session).

The cost of this Taster is only £12 and you must apply to NRCFA.

You will not be obliged to take the full course, only if you wish to referee 11-a-side football.

The next course in York (at York College)  is scheduled for October 2015; the two main Sundays are 11 and 18 Oct (930-1630 hrs) plus a workshop covering Law 12 (Fouls & Misconduct) on 15 Oct 1800- 2100 hrs).

Once this is completed you will be expected to do 5 games (end of Oct onwards) before coming back for the exam and next steps workshop (tbc).

The cost of the course will be £115.

All candidates will also be expected to do a Safeguarding Children workshop prior to doing their full course and those over 16 years of age wishing to referee youth football will need a valid CRC check (done online).

After all this you will then become a qualified level 7/8 referee.
