March meeting minutes

Minutes of meeting held on 3rd March 2022

At NHS Club with 17 members and guests attending.

 

 

The chairman welcomed all to a rather disappointing attendance – 17no.

He welcomed our guest Matt Messias to the meeting.

13 Apols were received from Mssrs; Milburn; Berry; Rich; Kay; Bishop; Smith & father; Thornton; White; Bayley; G Hartley; McEvoy; Drummond.

 

BC – Safeguarding; the level of fines and banns being handed out by the CFA is on the increase.   Racial abuse in the area is on the increase, and club officials are standing back and allowing it. This also applies to touchline behaviour to players. DBS certificates will be the aim for all clubs, also Mental health champions on all leagues.

 

Dinner; details were given out. A flyer had been printed out with menu selections/ prices/dates etc, to be returned to John / Ian .

 

Problem Corner; there was a detailed discussion on the VAR incident on the Man City v Everton match where Mike Riley apologized for wrong decision given.

Matt Messias, ex-York RA member/Premier/FIFA official then gave a presentation, starting with a few clips of his career at the top flight then through his career to New Zealand and back to York via Devon.

He now has his own business involving; teachers, refs, children, sports bodies dealing with Mental Health and Wellbeing….Impact Leadership.

Be aware of the warning signs of stress counter productive habits.  He ended with a Q&A session where asked about teams/players.

Ending with the advice; play to your strengths.
